End of life doula training
An 8-week course that provides the foundation and skills needed to become a professional End-of-Life Doula within the community

Palliative Care for CHWs:
via Oregon State University
This online course is designed to provide a continuing education / professional development opportunity for Community Health Workers (CHWs) who have completed entry-level CHW training. It addresses care of the individual and family living with serious illness or nearing the end of life.


End of Life Care for Healthcare Professionals-ELNEC (End of Life Nursing Education Consortium)
The End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) project is a national and international education initiative to improve palliative care. Since 2000, ELNEC is a collaboration between City of Hope and AACN. The project, administered by City of Hope, provides training in palliative for nursing students, practicing nurses and other healthcare professionals.


Community Workshops:


- Grief Literacy: In this workshop, participants will learn tangible skills for normalizing grief and supporting others to navigate the multi-layered landscapes of loss. Participants will explore the various faces and sources of grief and learn empathy-bridging tools that encourage person-centered care that is connective and affirming.


-Compassionate Communities 101: The Compassionate Communities Model is an approach to social change that aims to promote and integrate social approaches to dying, death and bereavement in the everyday lives of individuals and communities. It raises community awareness of end-of-life issues and promotes participation in the care and support of dying people and their families. This FREE, online training provides a foundational understanding of this model, upon which we base our work.


-Community Connector Training: Participants will learn the language of grief, including how to offer emotional care and practical assistance with sensitivity, no matter the type of illness or loss.Participants will also gain advance care planning skills, active listening and psychosocial support skills and systems and resource orientation to ensure friends, family and neighbors are receiving supportive and timely care.


-Connection Cafe Facilitator— Train-the-Trainer: Connection Cafes are supportive, peer-led spaces for individuals navigating serious illness, caregiving for someone, or experiencing grief. This training empowers individuals in the community to create a Connection Cafe program and train others to host cafes.
