Our work is founded upon the Compassionate Community Model of Care. We offer a variety of online courses to prepare interested individuals with the practical skills and strategies to confidently and competently show up for others who are facing serious and terminal illness.
Self-paced and facilitated options
Our Professional Presence End of Life Doula Training delivers the skills and strategies to offer end of life doula support in a voluntary or professional role. We offer this training both as both a self-paced, independent study and an 8-week facilitated program with our Peaceful Presence faculty. The facilitated version of our professional training is intentionally limited to 20 participants per cohort to create an opportunity for connection, community building and peer support.

facilitated end of life doula training programs
Our 75-hour, facilitated End of Life Doula Training is a comprehensive course for those wishing to provide end-of-life doula support in a voluntary or professional capacity. Our program teaches to the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA) core competencies as well as a holistic understanding of the dying process, trauma-informed, inclusive and equitable care and community grief support. Grounded in adult learning principles, the training incorporates a variety of learning styles including:
peer group discussion
audio and video lessons
personal reflection
and 1:1 faculty feedback.
The course finishes with developing your personal model of care and a case study assignment to bring all your learning together and prepare you for entry into service.
Facilitated cohorts are intentionally limited to 20 participants to foster meaningful connection, community building, and peer support. Each cohort includes four live community Zoom sessions, along with at least three required peer-led small group meetups. Participants engage in ongoing case study assignments, online discussion board conversations, and personal journaling prompts.
FALL 2026 facilitated training program
Our 8 week facilitated Fall 2026 course ($899) will run from Wednesday, September 16th 2026 to Wednesday, November 4th 2026. The course material will open to registered students on September 9th for the first module of learning. All Fall 2026 enrolled students will receive a printed Training Companion Manual with their registration fee.
FALL 2026 COHORT ENROLLMENT IMPORTANT DATES:
Fall 2026 Facilitated Scholarship Applications are due by Monday, August 10th 2026. Scholarship recipients will be notified by Monday, August 17th when course registration opens about their award status.
Fall 2026 Facilitated Cohort Registration period is open from Monday, August 17th - Wednesday, September 9th. The facilitated version of our professional training is intentionally limited to 20 participants per cohort to create an opportunity for connection, community building and peer support.
The course material will open to registered students on Wednesday, September 9th and our first live session will take place on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026.
Additional details:
The required Live Zoom sessions will take place on Wednesday afternoons from 12:00 pm noon - 1:30 PM Pacific Time Zone online during weeks 1, 3, 5 and 8 of the program. You will begin your studies on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 with Module #1, so you have a full week of learning prior to our first live zoom session together on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026. Live Zoom Sessions will take place on September 16, September 30, October 14, and November 4, 2026. In addition to these full student cohort + faculty facilitated live zoom meetings, you will also be required to meet in small groups in weeks 2, 4 and either 6/7, based upon self-scheduling within your small group.

Available on-demand: Our “Compassionate Presence” Workshops ($99) provide an overview of the Self, Other, and Systems perspective of deathcare in the United States. In this self-paced, pre-recorded workshop series, you will learn the background, foundation and basic skillset to come alongside someone and offer knowledgeable guidance in improving the way they face illness.
Please note that this 3 part workshop series is embedded into our 8 part Professional Presence End of Life Doula Training, so if you plan to take our 8 part Professional Presence Training it is not necessary to also take this 3 part workshop series.
