Jan 28th:: What Matters Most?
4:30-5:30pm
At the start of a new year, amidst the continuing pandemic, we offer a workshop exploration of the first step in advance care planning: identifying what matters most to you.
Using The Conversation Project as our guide, we will discuss why the place to start is with yourself. What does “quality of life” mean to you? How would this guide the decisions you make about your healthcare?
This workshop series is offered at no cost; thanks to the generosity of those who can donate, we are able to continue our work.
Registration in advance for each workshop is required: please click this link to sign up.
Feb 25th:: Who will speak for you?
4:30-5:30pm
The next step in advance care planning is choosing a health care “proxy”. Sometimes called a “medical power of attorney” or “healthcare representative”, this person is named to be able to speak on your behalf if you become unable to do so yourself.
This role is not to be taken lightly; we believe that once you know what matters most, choosing someone you trust is a decision for deliberate discernment.
In this month’s workshop, we explore what is involved in being a health care proxy, and what is involved in wisely choosing your health care proxy.

March 25th:: End of Life Options
4:30-5:30pm
Considering the options for healthcare decisions is one aspect of the advance directive; but your choices don’t end there. You have an array of choices about how you want to be cared for after you die.
In this month’s one-hour workshop, we will share information about the various options for the end of life as well as after death.
Some of the topics discussed include: hospice and palliative care, medical aid in dying, voluntary stopping of eating and drinking, end-of-life doula care, funerals, traditional and contemporary “green” burial and cremation options.

April 16th:: Advance Directives
4:30-5:30pm
Once again, to celebrate National Healthcare Decisions Day, we present “Drafts and Directives”.
After you consider what matters most; choose a health care proxy and have a conversation with them, and decide what end of life options you would choose, it’s time to write it all down.
An advance directive is a two-part legal document that names your health care proxy and explains in writing the health care you prefer.
Our well-received “Drafts and Directives” Workshop last year guided 100 people through the process of creating a thoughtful advance directive. Join us as we walk you through, step-by-step, and have your directive completed.
