The Peaceful Presence Project Presents a 2 Part FREE Virtual Training for Individuals in Rural Oregon:
Connection Cafe Facilitator and Grief Literacy Training
Tuesday, May 26th from 9:00-11:00 am &
Tuesday June 2nd, 2026, 9:00-11:00 am
What if your community came together to support one another during times of illness, loss and grief?
With gratitude to the Roundhouse Foundation, we are pleased to offer a free, 4-hour virtual training for individuals in rural Oregon who would like to learn how to build and host a Connection Cafe in their community.
Part one of our workshop (May 26th) is the Connection Cafe Facilitator Training
At “Connection Cafes”, community members gather for supportive dialogue around personal experiences with illness, death and grief. These spaces provide compassionate human contact and nurture meaningful relationships. This program strives to improve both the quality of life and health outcomes for its participants. Learn more about grief literacy and other covered topics, the cafe model, the toolkit of free resources available, and how to get started.
In the second workshop session (June 2nd), participants will deepen their understanding of grief and ways to support.
‘Grief literacy’ is defined as "skills and knowledge that enable thoughtful action and compassionate care for those in need." In this workshop, participants will learn tangible skills for normalizing grief and supporting others to navigate the multi-layered landscapes of loss. Through a combination of didactic and interactive exercises and discussions, participants will explore the various faces and sources of grief and learn empathy-bridging tools that encourage person-centered care that is connective and affirming.
We strongly encourage attendance at both workshops, but welcome participants who can only join for one. REGISTER FOR FREE BELOW
