Train to be a Compassionate Community Presence

Our work is founded upon the Compassionate Community Model of Care. We offer a variety of online courses to prepare interested individuals with the practical skills and strategies to confidently and competently show up for others who are facing serious and terminal illness.

Self-paced and facilitated options

Our Professional Presence End of Life Doula Training delivers the skills and strategies to offer end of life doula support in a voluntary or professional role. We offer this training both as both a self-paced, independent study and an 8-week facilitated program with our Peaceful Presence faculty. facilitated end of life doula training programs

Our 75-hour, facilitated End of Life Doula Training is a comprehensive course for those wishing to provide end-of-life doula support in a voluntary or professional capacity. Our program teaches to the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance (NEDA) core competencies as well as a holistic understanding of the dying process, trauma-informed, inclusive and equitable care and community grief support. Grounded in adult learning principles, the training incorporates a variety of learning styles including:

  • peer group discussion

  • audio and video lessons

  • personal reflection

  • and 1:1 faculty feedback.

The course finishes with developing your personal model of care and a case study assignment to bring all your learning together and prepare you for entry into service.

Facilitated cohorts are intentionally limited to 20 participants to foster meaningful connection, community building, and peer support. Each cohort includes four live community Zoom sessions, along with at least three required peer-led small group meetups. Participants engage in ongoing case study assignments, online discussion board conversations, and personal journaling prompts.
